Finding Nemo

When Nemo, a young clownfish, is unexpectedly carried far from home, his overprotective father, Marlin, and Dory, a friendly but forgetful regal blue tang fish embark on an epic journey that leads to encounters with vegetarian sharks, surfer dude turtles, hypnotic jellyfish and hungry seagulls! Finding Nemo's breakthrough computer animation is the ultimate viewing experience. Swimming with laughs and overflowing with emotion - you'll find yourself watching Finding Nemo over and over again!

Nemo

Due to a crack in Nemo's egg, he has grown up with one small, weak fin, which Marlin assures him is his lucky fin.

Dory

Dory is the friendliest fish in the ocean. Although she suffers from short term memory loss, to Dory, the glass is always half full.

Bruce

Bruce is a kind and pleasant shark. He is also shown to be jolly, laid-back, and a jokester. He is also honest and well meaning. However, his personality changes when his instincts start to kick in, and this turns him into a mindless, fish-eating shark.

Product description

Academy Award-winning animated film from the creators of 'Toy Story'. Motherless clownfish Nemo (voiced by Alexander Gould) is carried away from his home in Australia's Great Barrier Reef. His overprotective father, Marlin (Albert Brooks), and Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a friendly but forgetful regal blue tang fish, go to his rescue. The two embark on an adventure that leads to encounters with a range of colourful characters including Bruce the Great White Shark (Barry Humphries), a Sea Tortoise called Crush (Andrew Stanton) and a Pelican called Nigel (Geoffrey Rush).

Damaged case
I purchased this DVD to put away for Christmas. However, upon arrival I had to open it as I could hear the disc moving around inside. The case is broken meaning the disc won't remain in place, and the cellophane has damaged the back of the cover. However, the disc *appears* undamaged (I have yet to watch it to check) so I have decided to keep it for myself. But it still means I am one Christmas gift short and will look to purchase it again, elsewhere.

We all know and love this film so i'll get to the bit that I found lacking when I purchased Nemo. Reviews of the 3D...

Ok I found 1 review that the 3D was the next best thing since Avatar. Sorry I don't but that as this wasn't filmed in 3D by Mr Cameron. Yeah ok there is the usual depth to the conversion of an animated film, but it isn't through out the film. I'm not watching this on a budget set up either. I guess having watched the Lion King 3D and Beauty and the Beast 3D, and having these transfers to compare to, especially the latter of the 2 looking like a brand new film. Nemo just wasn't as impressive. The under water scenes in the reef are fantastic 3D, but that is only about 10 minutes of the film. The film still gets 5 stars as it's still enjoyable to watch :-)

Bought this as my first 3D Blu ray and was looking forward to seeing all the hype over 3D.

Upon first booting up of the DVD I was not that blown away, yes the picture is flawless as pixar films are, but the 3D is not as I thought.

Maybe I expected too much and the picture to jump out at me every time, but in some scenes even without the glasses on it looked just normal.

After watching it for longer you do get a sense of depth within the picture but its not as impressive as I thought.

I have not bought another 3D Blu ray yet as im on the fence.

Given it 4 stars as its a great film and the detail is second to none.

This review is for anyone wondering whether it is worth getting the 3D Blu-ray version. Maybe you already have it in DVD (or even Blu-ray) and have just bought a 3D TV and wonder if it is good enough to justify the expense. Well all I can say is Yes, yes & yes again! Just watched it myself on my LG 3D TV and was blown away by the quality. To be honest I was prepared for a mediocre 3D effect given it's a post release conversion. But it's amazing, the depth is terrific and scenes like the coral reef, jellyfish swarm and in the tank are on a whole new level. Although there are no 'out of TV' front projections this does not detract from the overall enjoyment. It's been a few years since the last time I watched it in 2D and it was like watching it for the first time!

I purchased this last week just for the 3D aspect as I was interested given this has always been a great family film, but what a film in 3D ! ... Astounding .. highly recommended if you have a 3D set-up via TV or Projector ... If you have kids as well they will marvel at the depth, colours, characters, storyline etc etc ... You must get it... 2D = great film, 3D = Astounding film! I always believed Avatar was the best film made so far in 3D followed closely by Life of Pi and the Hobbit ... This is up there with the best ... Buy and Enjoy ! By the way I have an Optoma HD-300X projector set-up so I watched this with a 120" screen ... incredible ....

Very funny film and of course, a tiny bit heartbreaking, but everything turns out well in the end.
Excellent animation and one thing I found great was that the film makers had taken the time to get the character of each particular creature spot on.
For instance, the part where little Nemo is surrounded by seagulls who are all shouting "Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!"
This is exactly how real seagulls see food.
A wonderful film for both children and adults. Enjoy.

After reading reviews about the amazing 3D in this film, and being a pixar fan myself i had to get this. I will say that its not the best 3D ever, but its pretty close. This film does not have the best out of screen 3D. But the depth is brilliant. Finding Nemo looked stunning in 2D but the 3D gives it a whole new dimension. Its a family film that will stay in your heart forever. A MUST buy for any home cinema 3D owner!

We have to be careful about animation. Part of it is indoctrination. This indoctrination was not obnoxious and the animation was beautiful so I am glad I bought it. Just received this DVD on 7/10 and it checked out just fine.
