SYNOPSIS

In Disney and Pixar's Onward, teenage elf brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoor (voices of Tom Holland and Chris Pratt) get an unexpected opportunity to spend one more day with their late dad, so they embark on an extraordinary quest aboard Barley's epic van Guinevere. Like any good quest, their journey is filled with magic spells, cryptic maps, impossible obstacles and unimaginable discoveries. But when the boys' fearless mum Laurel (voice of Julia Louis-Dreyfus) realises their sons are missing, she teams up with a part-lion, part-bat, part-scorpion, former warrior - aka The Manticore (voice of Octavia Spencer) - and heads off to find them. Disney can only impress me 1 way or another these days. And as it is an animation, i do like the new technology and the character's clothing. I don't always like olden days clothing which keeps on going into their live action remakes. I do think they should have rated this pg as it does contain some scary scenes. Some children might get upset if they don't like something in it. I liked it because it has magic in it and it is about Ian and Barley trying to use a wizard's staff to bring their dad back to life for 1 day. There is danger on their mission to finding the second gem that is required for the spell. This is probably my favorite Disney Pixar film now. I would highly recommend.

    The 3D was excellent, with good protrusion out of the screen when appropriate, long depth into the screen, and fine resolution between objects. Viewed projected in 3D on a 120" screen with full surround sound, it was an immersive experience. The 3D enhanced a marvelous storyline and excellent animation. This movie surely deserved to be viewed in full 3D, being much better than I anticipated. I thought it would be a nice cartoon story but it was far more, with gripping themes and unexpected plot twists. If this is one of the last 3D movies made for home projection, it's surely taking the genre out on a high note. Thanks to all those who were involved in this marvelous example of what 3D can be. Bravo!

    Having already watched this movie on release, decided to purchase the blu-ray from ÍøÆغÚÁÏ whilst on offer.
    As always the picture quality is great and the audio from my 5.1 cinema setup is pretty decent too.

    Onward is one of the more recent, decent movies from Disney and anyone who enjoys the likes of Toy Story, Lilo & Stich etc will have a great time watching this, although really young kids might not get into it as much as other Disney movies, but I'm sure they'll grow into Onward and will be one the watch again and again.
