Find Out More About The Main Characters

Ethan Tom Cruise Image

Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise)

Ethan Hunt, and his team go through an odyssey inspired by and reflective of his story. It’s an epic personal tale, and there are enormous emotional stakes for all the characters. “Fallout” refers not only to nuclear fallout but also to the fallout of all of Ethan’s good intentions. He has walked into a situation beyond his control, and he has to go through it even though he knows he’s being manipulated.

Luther Mission Impossible Image

Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames)

A central character since the first Impossible film in 1996. Luther is the “soul of the film” and gives a certain consciousness to Ethan.

Simon Pegg Benji Mission Impossible Fallout

Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg)

It’s good to be able to relax for a moment and laugh. A lot of the time that’s where Benji comes in. He started out as a systems analyst in the IMF labs before getting a taste for adventure when he was enlisted to remotely assist Ethan in Mission: Impossible III. In Ghost Protocol we find him out in the field for the first time and in Rogue Nation he’s become more accomplished and used to the idea of being a secret agent — although he still doesn’t take everything entirely seriously.

Alec Baldwin Mission Impossible image

Alan Hunley (Alec Baldwin)

Former CIA Director, Alan has recently been named secretary of the IMF.

Ilsa Image Mission Impossible

Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson)

With her own objectives and unique approach to spycraft, Ilsa is initially at odds with the IMF team. She works mostly for herself and to achieve what she needs to. All the characters have different goals and agendas in this film. Sometimes they interact, and sometimes we put sticks in each other’s wheels, and that creates intense momentum.

Vanessa Kirby White Widow mission impossible image

Alana “The White Widow” (Vanessa Kirby)

Alana is an enigmatic character who comes into Ethan’s life as the total antithesis of all the women he’s met so far. She is a temptation, not just physically, but emotionally and psychologically. She seems to enjoy being involved with all of these nefarious characters, but you can’t trust her.

Erika Sloane Angela Basset Mission Impossible Image

Erika Sloane (Angela Bassett)

She replaces Alec Baldwin’s Alan Hunley (now head of the IMF) as CIA Director and brings a very different attitude to the job. Sloane is ruthless and hard-charging, Erika has no tolerance for the IMF and their games, but at the same time is somewhat disarming in her manner.

Henry Cavill Mission Impossible Walker

August Walker (Henry Cavill)

He’s something of a wild card in this story. There’s a great deal of friction between him and Ethan, which comes to a boil over the course of the movie. The CIA’s top assassin, Walker also harbors his own dark agenda. He’s a cleaner; he takes out the people you can’t capture. But beyond that he’s an anarchist.

Product description

Some missions are not a choice. On a dangerous assignment to recover stolen plutonium, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) chooses to save his team over completing the mission, allowing nuclear weapons to fall into the hands of a deadly network of highly-skilled operatives intent on destroying civilisation. Now, with the world at risk, Ethan and his IMF team (Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson) are forced to become reluctant partners with a hard-hitting CIA agent (Henry Cavill) as they race against time to stop the nuclear fallout. There’s never been a threat more destructive or stunts more jaw-dropping than in this film that critics are calling “the best Mission yet” (Jamie Graham, TOTAL FILM).

Top reviews from United Kingdom

Okay, firstly I think this film is superb and totally outshines Bond and batters Bourne - but that is just my opinion.
Check out IMDB for film reviews - here I'm talking about the product: specifically a 4k UHD blu-ray.

I have a Panasonic 55" 4k TV with a 4K UHD Blu-ray player, neither of which are high end, just good quality basic kit. They play and upscale normal blu-ray discs really well. I feel no need to trade in any blu-rays I currently have for 4k ones. DVDs are another story and that will have to happen over time...

But when buying new films (which I rarely do as they have to be something I know I'll watch at least a couple more times - if not more) I'm now convinced that 4k UHD is the way to go.

The image is crisper, the action cleaner, colours feel truer.

My wife doesn't notice so much of a difference, but she does watch Freeview channels in SD even when the HD channels are *right there* !!! Look at the clarity! Gah!
Okay, maybe you need to have an element of video geek about you to appreciate it, but I think the difference is tangible. I wouldn't pay twice as much for a 4k blu-ray but for an extra £5 it's a no-brainer.

Really enjoyed this one yet again. It's engaging, varied, and never boring. It's doing Bond movies better than Bond nowadays. Being a fan of the original show I also appreciate the little nods to it. The Vinyl LP message in the last one, the fake hospital scene in this one, etc. I don't know if you have to be a fan of Tom Cruise to enjoy this, but, after you see it, you can't help but appreciate the quality and audacity of the stunts. Really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next one.

    What an amazing movie.
The best in the series imo.
As for the 4k,it was fantastic in dolby vision and the final imax scenes were the best I've seen on 4k to date.
Also the atmos soundtrack was excellent too, ill be hearing those helicopters 🚁 🚁 for days on end such was the thunderous overhead action.

I do not know why this got so many bad reviews , Maybe i'm easily pleased but i don't think so , lots of action & a decent story i think some forget its fiction that doesn't mean any are good or bad but in this case i think it's a decent watch .

I rate the actual film as really good, but my enjoyment was ruined by a faulty 4K disc which was very grainy and eventually froze so I had to finish the film on the Blu-ray disc which was not much better for quality, so it heads it's way back to the returns dept.

Loved this action packed rollercoaster. I love action films especially. Good story. Henry Cavill was great as the blunt instrument. Great entertainment. Ignore the people who slated it as they don’t appear to like these sort of films anyway so they would slate it.
