I really like the little mermaid, I have since I was little & I even have a collection section in my collection bookcase JUST for the little mermaid items & when I found out 7 years ago a live action was in works I was so happy to be able to experience such a amazing event.Although I was VERY disappointed with the dvd case I got. Not the film, the case as it was incredibly flimsy & felt cheap, so I exchanges the cases with a different better Disney one.

    This is one of the more faithful updates of a Disney classic in recent times. All the songs are present from the original animated version as well as a couple of new additions. There are, however, a couple of character changes. Flounder, Ariel's fishy friend, isn't as cute and cuddly as the original and Scuttle, who was a seagull in the original, is now a gannet.

    The set pieces are still as vibrant as the original with some nice turns done by Xavier Bardem as King Triton and Melissa McCarthy as the evil sea witch Ursula. Yes, it is a long movie at over two hours long, but the time soon zooms by and you find yourself sings along to the songs like you did with the original. A good addition to once's Disney collection.

    The Little Mermaid has always been one of my favourite original Disney movies, so it was nice to see this as a live action. I thought Halle’s voice was beautiful and the effects were good. My favourite had to be Melissa’s portrayal of Ursula, she did an excellent job!

    Should it happened ? No there's no reason for any of these live action remakes to happen
    but since it happened .. ok it's watchable.
    Obviously it can't capture the magic of the animated movie.
