Product Description
Walt Disney Animation Studios proudly presents the wonderful new adventure, Winnie the Pooh. Return to the Hundred Acre Wood for a heartwarming original movie, and reunite with the beloved bear and his silly but steadfast friends for a magical family experience. When sad old Eeyore loses his tail, Owl sends the whole gang – Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga and Roo – on a wild journey to help Eeyore and save Christopher Robin from the mysterious Backson. In the end, it turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some hunny. Inspired by five stories from A.A. Milne’s books and created in Disney’s legendary, hand-drawn style, this all-new classic introduces one of the world’s most cherished characters to a whole new generation. Narrated by John Cleese and bursting with brand-new songs performed by Zooey Deschanel, this wonderfully whimsical film is a must-own for every family’s film collection.

A beautifully crafted animated film, Winnie The Pooh may lack the digital polish of computer generated movies, but there’s a labour of love here that’s hard to resist. It’s a hand-drawn movie, that brings to the screen a fresh adventure from the Hundred Acre Wood. Present and correct are the characters that have made the stories of Winnie The Pooh so beloved over the years. And there’s a wonderful, nostalgic feel to the film.
But that’s not to say it doesn’t have some modern tricks up its sleeve, too. As well as the addition of a contemporary voice cast, this Winnie The Pooh feature is willing to have the characters interact with the very words and letters of the story it’s telling. Furthermore, there’s one sequence which feels really quite removed from what you’d expect of a Pooh movie.
Yet that’s not a bad thing, and it’s hard to shake the feeling that Disney is justifiably proud of this one. Winnie The Pooh has been far from the firm’s most popular films of recent times, but it’s genuinely lovely. It’s inevitably going to find most appeal amongst very young viewers, but even the older members of the audience can enjoy what’s been put together. And they might just end up feeling that they really do still make them like they used to. A real treat. --Jon Foster

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 March 2013Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseYou could be forgiven in assuming that a modern Winnie the Pooh will be heavily targetted at toddlers, or worse still a shameless hollow parody of the original Disney adaptation 'the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh'. Thankfully such assumptions could not be further from the truth. Yes, there are many references to the earlier film (an obvious example being Pooh's trippy honey halucinations). Thankfully there is such a charm and wit to the proceedings that these similarities feel fresh and engaging, without swamping the narrative in lazy nostalgia. The humour of both the original adaptation and Milne's novels is present throughout. There were many gags that made me laugh at loud. I cannot think of a recent live action comedy film which so frequently hits the mark.
As many other reviewers have mentioned the animation is very traditional in style. The characters and backgrounds are reminiscent of Disney's works through the 60's and early 70's. This adds to the general impression that a lot of care and love has been dedicated to the final film, rather than the somewhat sterile feel that often typifies modern animation, whether CGI or hand-illustrated. I understand that the film industry is a business (the clue is in the name), but it would be fantastic if more films could exhibit the same levels of personal attention shown thoughout 'Winne the Pooh'. I hesitate to say it, but such attention to detail makes the case for film as an art form, rather than merely an entertainment industry.
I cannot recommend this film highly enough!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 March 2024Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseGreat. Just as described
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 July 2014Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseThe video is excellent. The story revolves around Owl misreading a sign left by Christopher Robin that read "Back Soon." The whole story then moves to Christopher Robin being kidnapped by the mythical "Backson." Fun for kids of all ages, My three year old grandson is in love with it and watches it frequently. I had to return this video to ÍøÆغÚÁÏ U.K. as it would not play on any of our DVD players. Perhaps a different format?? It should have been stated in the description. So I called ÍøÆغÚÁÏ and to my surprise they instantly credited my account and asked me to mail it back. They even promised to refund the return shipping costs which I am waiting on. I purchased the three disc set (blue ray, dvd, and computer disc) and am completely satisfied. Now if only Washington, D.C. ran their business like ÍøÆغÚÁÏ, the state of our Union would be much better served.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 December 2011Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseBecause it is there and Winnie is a very good politician of Spin and Eeyore the General Public, I have no other excuse as I like cartoon skill, anyway before I get Bounced into the nearest River while worrying about Stick Houses on behalf of Kirstie Phil and Kevin in the rain, the wind the rain the sleet the mud, as our local river is highly unpalatable, recommended for adults and children and well delivered. Thank you.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 April 2021Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseThis film has subtitles. I did not watch much of it, I think it is for children,
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 February 2020Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseI ordered this for my daughter who is a Disney fan, I thought she would love this.
*Update*
She loves this not only cause it's Disney but she also loves Winnie the Pooh. So would recommend this to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet, funny and gentle film
Style Name: SingleVerified PurchaseMy 2 and 5 year olds adore this film. It’s really faithful to the stories and has beautiful animation with a more old fashioned feel. The soundtrack is fab and I can happily watch it with them (unlike many kids movies which drive me crazy!).
